I love educational toys, they not only keep my girls entertained but the amount of things they pick up from them is amazing. My mother had given us the Leap Frog Tag Reader and I was excited to have my oldest start using the books but she was only two at the time and still in a slightly destructive phase with books, so I held off on it. She is now approaching three though and she knows her letters and numbers and I we wanted to work on basic reading skills. I happily went to the store to look through the different books and flash cards, we could use. Unfortunately most of the Leap Frog books and flash cards that were age appropriate were part of the Leap Frog Tag Junior Reader.
I figured logically the materials for the Tag Junior would work on the Tag reader, right? Wrong! I was so disappointed to find out that if I wanted to use any of the Tag Junior materials I needed to buy that unit as well. I must say that I was very disappointed, the thought of spending another $30 to use this for only a year or so until I moved onto the Tag Reader did not make me happy. I am not sure why they couldn’t have then junior material work on the regular Tag as well, except of course to get us all to spend the extra money.
I love Leap Frog products generally but leaves some definite room for improvement to me. We do have a younger girl as well…, no resist Michele!
